Alps Wire Rope Corporation will showcase Petersen’s solutions for crane-cable repairs, which allow assembly on site, at stand G73125

At ConExpo 2017, Alps Wire Rope Corporation will introduce Petersen’s P400, the mobile solution for swaging and testing wire-rope terminations and crane-cable repairs on site.

The new system offers huge savings to offshore, mobile and tower-crane operators by minimising downtime for rope repairs.

The Petersen swaging and testing machine allows the correct pressing of swage sockets on to wire rope. After fitting the socket, the wire rope can be gripped and a proof load applied – all on the same machine. Proof-load tests can be carried out on lifting assemblies without the need for external equipment.

The comparatively low weight and compact design of the Petersen machine means assembly can be done on site. For example, using the Petersen P400, it is possible to reterminate and proof-load test a crane cable that is still attached to the crane at the work site.

The crane-rope buttons supplied by Petersen can be shipped with an optional swivel-eye to prevent problems associated with cable torsion during the reeving process.

Alps Wire Rope is the North American distributor for UK-based Petersen Stainless Rigging, a leading manufacturer of stainless steel rigging and lifting equipment for the offshore, aerospace, nuclear, lifting, architectural and marine industries.
