The People Who Sell Cranes

29 June 2015

The Lebanese crane market is developing and growing, driven by construction and infrastructure work and an increasing understanding of the latest technology, says Hisham Farhat, founder of Farhat Service Center.

The company was founded in June 2012, as a Terex construction equipment distributor and a service and parts provider for Terex cranes in Lebanon. I previously worked in the region for Al Jaber Heavy Lift and ALE in the Middle East. Today we also cover a wider region including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and northern, central and western Africa.

We also sell cranes in Lebanon, and supply spare parts and provide maintenance. We are trying to improve the crane market -- previously many people in the region were only familiar with the old Demag cranes and didn't have experience with newer Terex cranes, so we have tried to educate local operators and to keep them up-todate with the latest Terex technology.

Through our team of seven employees we commission and repair cranes, as well as training operators. We have also taken distributorship for parts for new and used cranes and wheel-loaders from Terex Germany and UK.

We supply service and parts for all Terex crawler cranes and all terrain cranes produced in Germany, as well as rough terrain and truck cranes. We also offer inspection services and I currently do some work with ALE, providing assistance where required.

The Lebanon market is currently being driven by work in the construction and infrastructure sectors, and the offshore oil industry is a growing area. Due to the location of the country we are currently affected by conflict in nearby countries. In countries such as Syria there will be a market once the conflict has passed, but at the moment there is an embargo on importing equipment into the country. But there are a lot of cranes already there.

Our company's next step is to further establish ourselves in the region. We will look at opportunities to grow, but this can be risky in the current market
