Earlier this month the ALL Crane hire company conducted a training session at its headquarters in Cleveland, US, in response to new OSHA crane regulations.

The new OSHA Standards for Cranes and Derricks became effective in November 2010. They include new operator aid (LMI) requirements, site manager requirements and operator certification requirements. They give new standards in multi-crane picks, and an OSHA Training Student Handbook was also included.

70 employees attended the training, including crane operators, maintenance, mechanics, and shop personnel. Lecturer Bob Graham of The Crosby Group instructed them on how to perform rigging equipment tests and on how to rig a crane safely. The ALL standards are higher than industry requirements, it says.

Course organiser corporate safety director for ALL Kirk ward, said, “We plan to hold additional rigging classes in the future that will be more intensive in nature.”

ALL has said it will be working with The Crosby Group to take the same program to different branches.
