German crane company builds 160 residential units using five Potain tower cranes

German crane sales and rental firm BKL Baukran Logistik is using five Potain tower cranes to construct a new residential development in Hannover, Germany.

The cranes comprise two new Potain MDT 189 cranes, one new MDT 219, one MDT 248 and one MDT 178. They have been on the ‘In den Sieben Stücken’ jobsite since April 2021 where they are helping to construct 160 residential units. Completion is scheduled for mid-2023.

All the cranes are equipped with Potain’s CCS crane control system. According to Manitowoc, which manufacturers the Potain brand tower cranes, the CCS reduces the time needed to erect, transport and maintain the cranes, helping keep operating costs low.

"We have been working with Potain cranes for almost 20 years, so we know from experience how reliable and efficient these machines are," said Jörg Hegestweiler, managing director of BKL. "The Potain MDT tower crane range helps our team and our customers to get the job done effectively. Above all, Potain cranes are very user-friendly during assembly, which is quick and straightforward thanks to the CCS crane control system."
