Italian heavy transport and lifting company Fagioli was contracted by Spanish shipbuilding company Navantia for the transport and load out operations of several offshore wind farm jackets executed in Northern Spain.

A tailor-made structure was designed and assembled in order to move the lower and upper parts of the jackets, so that they could be joined together and prepared by the client for the load out operation that will take place in early 2022. This structure weighed 480t.

The weight of the upper and lower parts was 600t, while the complete jacket weighed 1,200t.

For this job Fagioli used 56 axle lines of Cometto SPMT with a capacity of 48t per axle line. The self-propelled modular transporters are divided in an open compound with two convoy lanes of 28 axle lines, propelled by two 368kW Power Pack Units. The total payload capacity of the Cometto SPMT configuration was 2,500 tons.
