Dutch crane service provider Wagenborg used two all terrains, a Demag AC 500-2 and a Tadano ATF 400G-6, for a tandem lift of a 138t pressure vessel.

The 12.8m-long pressure vessel had to be lifted from a RORO pontoon onto a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) so that it could be taken to its destination by land.

The 400t Tadano ATF 400G-6 was equipped with 98t of counterweight enabling it to lift its portion of 49.5t at a radius of 15m. The 500t Demag AC 500-2 was equipped with a significantly larger 140t counterweight, as it had to lift the remaining 88.5t of the pressure vessel with its hook with a similar 15m radius.

Wagenborg’s team lifted the load from the pontoon and smoothly set it down on the SPMT without any surprises and exactly as scheduled. On reaching its destination, the pressure vessel was temporarily stored and then placed on its foundation after undergoing maintenance.
