DOLL and Lawsons Haulage to collaborate
8 April 2014German transport specialist DOLL has partnered with Lawsons Haulage on a transport project for Network Rail in the UK. The job involved the construction of 1t 1m panels. One challenge the firm found was that the panels were not self-supporting, meaning that there was a risk of deflection for the panels and the trailer itself.
In August 2013 a 4-axle VARIO platform semi-trailer was delivered to Lawsons this machine had been specifically developed to transport panels up to a payload of approximately 55 t. A high central frame avoided any deflection of the trailer and panels. A 2,500mm long overhang extension served as counterweight and could easily be mounted and demounted with a forklift.
Lawsons has used the platform semi-trailer successfully in practice. The company placed an order for a second with DOLL in February this year.
