Dublin Ferryport Terminals extends handling capabilities with purchase of five additional Kalmar rubber tyred gantry cranes

Irish port operator Dublin Ferryport Terminals (DFT) has bought five new AutoRTG cranes from cargo handling specialist Kalmar, part of the Cargotec group. The new cranes will join four existing Kalmar AutoRTG cranes and will be installed over the next two years. The delivery of the first machines is scheduled to be completed during Q1 of 2022.

The Kalmar AutoRTG cranes have automated stack operation and remote-controlled truck handling, controlled via three remote control desks using the Kalmar One automation system. All service, maintenance and technical support is provided by Kalmar's dedicated on-site engineering team.

Alec Colvin, container terminal director at DFT, said, “Throughout our long-term partnership, Kalmar has proven their commitment and expertise in delivering terminal automation technologies, so it was only natural for us to turn to them when it came time to further extend our AutoRTG system at Dublin Port. We are confident that the new AutoRTGs will continue to support our efforts to improve terminal safety and efficiency across our operations in Ireland.”
