Knuckleboom manufacturers Fassi and Hiab are showing some of their crane models at the Swedish industrial vehicle show Lastbil, taking place in Elmia in Sweden between the 24th and 27th of August.

Hiab, which is also showing cranes at IAA in Hanover in September, is introducing new cranes in its mid- and heavy-range.  The company has announced that it will renew the mid-range with 24 new models, including the ‘light and compact’ 20tm Hiab X-HiPro 232 on show in Sweden. "The new models are at their maximum 300kg lighter than our previous ones, and this means the same amount of extra payload. All this has been done to maximise our customers' profitable business," says Hans Ohlsson, director medium range cranes. Key parts and components that require regular attention are easily accessible.

Hiab is also showing its new HiVision virtual reality system, which allows operators of forestry cranes to use a combination of cameras mounted in place of the standard pedestal and VR goggles to control the crane from the comfort of their cab, with the same responsiveness as standing behind the crane.

Fassi’s local dealer, Fassi Sverige, is showing two F545RA cranes from the XE range.  These cranes are optimized so that they can be fitted on a three-axle truck, while still offering lifting capacities of up to 53tm.  The cranes on display, configured with six hydraulic extensions, can lift 47tm, with a reach of over 16m.  One model will be shown on Fassi’s demo semitrailer with an L426 hydraulic extension, for a basic reach of 20.55m, and, with manual extensions, up to 30m.

Other truck-fitted cranes on the stand include a F235A.2.26 on a Mercedes Antos 6x2; two F275A02 models in six- and eight-extension versions on, respectively, a Volvo FH 8x4 tridem and a Scania P410 6x2*4, as well as an F990RA.2.28 with L616 jib on a Scania R490 8x2*6.

These set-ups are accompanied by a Fassi demo semitrailer with the following models: an F65B.1.24, an F112B.0.22, an F165AZ and an F485A.2.25, as well as the F545RA.2.26 with jib. Fassi Sverige is also presenting various set-ups on demo vehicles on the Mercedes and Iveco stands.
