Fassi has developed a new knuckle boom crane, the F2150RAL, using Strenx performance steel from SSAB.

Fassi chose to use the high strength and ultra high strength steels Strenx 1100 and Strenx 900 from SSAB in the lifting arms and crane booms. The F2150RAL can be installed on 4-axle trucks.

The knuckle boom crane has a lifting class of 160tm/1570kNm and a maximum reach of 41.3m with jib that was made possible thanks to Strenx.

“The F2150RAL crane stands out for its ability to combine exceptional lifting performance with a machine body that keeps structural dimensions to a minimum and limits tare weight,” the company said.

“The combination of Strenx and the expertise of Fassi has allowed for new levels of performance and reduced operating costs for the F2150RAL crane,” explained Magnus Carlsson, product manager Strenx, SSAB Special Steels.

Strenx can provide high toughness, good welding and bending properties as well as good consistency in terms of physical, chemical and mechanical properties.

“We have worked with large truck cranes for years. Recently, we are replacing some of them with articulated cranes,” said Juha Koponen, CEO Kurko-Koponen. “We can do many kinds of work with the Fassi F2150RAL folding boom system and winch, which used to require 160-ton mobile cranes. The arms of their small jib combined with the use of winches allow you to perform complex operations that are otherwise impractical."
