A 750t Manitowoc crawler crane was used at a gas processing plant in Russia to lift absorbers weighing up to 230t each.

Transport and installation company Swtrans used the Manitowoc 18000 crane, said to be one of the largest cranes in Russia, for the work at the Kazachya plant in Anapa. The crane travelled more than 5,000km from another gas plant project to reach the site, before being assembled with a 42m boom.

The capacity of the crane - typically 600t on a standard model - was increased to 750t with the Max-ER attachment.
The absorbers, used to remove moisture and impurities from the gas, each measured 22m high and 6m wide.

Egorov Roman Valerievich, heavy equipment engineer at the company, said: "Once again, the 18000 crawler crane's impressive reach and lift capabilities combined with a simple erection plan proved to be the difference on what would have been an otherwise tough jobsite.

"With a piece of advanced machinery such as this crane available to customers, Swtrans can transport and install even the largest loads, allowing us to meet the growing demand for oversized transport and assembly in Russia."
