UK-based hire firm Hewden has renewed its contract to supply one of the country’s largest suppliers of construction materials, Hanson, with cranes for lifting precast concrete structural elements on site.

Hewden first agreed a deal with Hanson for crane supply back in 2010, and has since used Hewden cranes extensively for the installation of precast concrete elements for structures such as railway platforms and bridge abutments.

As one of the UK's leading construction machinery hire companies, the new two-year contract will allow Hewden to continue to provide cranes for hire along with its range of construction plant and aerial work platforms.

Hewden's national account manager, Richard Hall, said: "Factors such as competitiveness, health and safety performance and service quality were given high weighting when it came to Hanson's choice of supplier. Thanks to our own proven track record we were able to demonstrate compliance in all these areas, and we are looking forward to continuing our strong performance with Hanson."

As a supplier of a wide range of construction materials from aggregate and asphalt to brick, concrete and cement products, the cranes will provide a welcome logistical boost to the company's work.

Senior contract manager for Hanson Building Products, James-Fraser Mitchell, said: "We decided to renew our agreement with Hewden based on its proven ability to service our requirements.

“The availability of good management information and service level data we receive from Hewden helps us to address continuous improvement."
