Heavy haulage specialist Kraftdragarna has used its Goldhofer Faktor 5 high girder bridge to transport a transformer in Sweden.

Kraftdragarna used the Faktor 5 to move a 391t transformer a distance of 800m to a warehouse at Ludvika, on behalf of technology company ABB.

The Faktor 5 has a total length of around 75m and an overall travelling height of 5.1m, and for the project was used with 12 THP/SL axle lines at the front and rear, keeping the axle load down to around 24t. It was propelled by a truck at the front pulling, and another truck pushing at the rear.

Managing director Tommy Sellgren said: "That's just the kind of operation we acquired our Big T for. It's the payload to deadweight ratio of 5:1 that makes jobs of this kind possible. It also means less hassle with permits, no delays in handling the project and a generally relaxed experience for all concerned."

Big Tommy: Kraftdragarna nicknames its Goldhofer Faktor 5 high bridge girder ‘Big T’, after managing director Tommy Sellgren.
