Nationwide Crane Hire Ltd (NCH) in Limerick has recently taken delivery of a new LTM 1450-8.1, the first in Ireland.

The eight-axle LTM 1450-8.1 has a 450t load capacity and can travel on public roads with a 12t axle load including its powerful 85m telescopic boom, all supports and a complete hoist winch, which means it can be prepared for use quickly once on site. This crane also benefits from VarioBallast, the variable counterweight system that is a new feature for Liebherr mobile cranes.

VarioBallast is designed for constricted sites because the ballast radius of the LTM 1450-8.1 can be reduced with infinite adjustment from 7m to 5m using a simple hydraulic swivel mechanism.

NCH’s fleet includes Liebherr crane models ranging from the LTM 1040-2.1 up to the LTM 1450-8.1. Over the last two years, the company has taken delivery of two LTM 1130-5.1 cranes and an LTM 1200-5.1.

Of this latest addition to the fleet, the company’s director of operations Frank Haugh said: “We are delighted to be the first crane hire company in Ireland to be able to offer the LTM 1450-8.1 for hire. We see this as a very versatile machine with its long jib and VarioBallast. It will be ideal for the erection of tower cranes in tight locations as well as for wind turbine erections and repairs.”
