Sterett Crane and Rigging of Owensboro, Kentucky, USA carried out reconstruction on a local bridge that had been hit by a cargo boat.

The firm used a Kobelco SL4500R, with a lifting capacity of 450t, mounted on a barge to lift a 300t bridge span section.

It did a tandem lift with another 600t crawler crane.

It floated a new, 98m long prefabricated section into position on a flat-top barge, in reaching distance of two other barges with cranes on board.

The firm used a water pump to pump water in and out of the ballast tanks to keep the barges level as the weight of the section was transferred.

The section was lifted at a radius of 22m and positioned into the gap at a height of 16m the whole lift was completed within 6 hours.

A five-story high cargo boat struck the The Eggners Ferry Bridge over the River Tennessee earlier this year.
