Komas finalises Cargotec component partnership

Port equipment manufacturer Cargotec, headquartered in Finland, said it has completed the transfer of component manufacturing operations in Estonia to systems supplier Komas.

The deal was reached last fall and saw Komas taking over Cargotec’s component manufacturing operations for an undisclosed amount.

Approximately 370 Cargotec employees have transferred to Komas Estonia, which will continue to operate in the existing premises.

Cargotec said that it gained a recognized partner for the supply of components by the deal.

Komas, a system supplier for the engineering industry headquartered in Jyväskylä Finland, is one of Cargotec's suppliers of steel structures

Its services include machining, assembly, hydraulics and logistics.

An international company, Komas has facilities throughout nine municipalities in Finland and factories in Poland and China.

The Komas Group employs about 1,200 people. In 2010, its annual turnover was approximately €120m.
