The Liebherr Group is to sell its tower crane rental business in Ile-de-France, a region in north-central France surrounding Paris, and Northern France to Hexagone Services. The handover is to take place on September 1.

The Liebherr Group boasts a fleet of hundreds of tower cranes across the country. Christophe Zimmermann, manager of Liebherr-Grues à Tour—the Liebherr subsidiary currently in charge of the tower crane rental business in Ile-de-France—said the two companies have been cooperating successfully for many years.

Hexagone Service is also based in the Ile-de-France region, more specifically in Torcy. It is a subsidiary of the Dutch long-standing Liebherr tower crane dealer Van der Spek, and has been operating as a rental company in France since 2000.

“We have grown significantly in the last 20 years and consider this operation as a confirmation of our philosophy", said Erik van Audenrode, manager of Van der Spek Belgium.

Marco Guariglia, sales manager at Liebherr-Werk Biberach, commented: "France has always been very important to Liebherr. With this step we will further strengthen our partners in the rental business and expand our market position."

Christophe Zimmermann, manager of Liebherr-Grues à Tour, commented that this deal will be an opportunity for Liebherr to focus on the core business of crane sales and the premium service in Paris and Northern France.

Liebherr-Grues à Tour’s facility in Fontenay-Trésigny will become the National Technical Centre for Liebherr Tower Cranes in France. “In the future further growth in the country will be supported and accompanied from this location by services, training and the handling of the logistics,” said the manufacturer.
