Brazilian construction company Guindastes Tatuapé has become the first operator in Brazil to use Liebherr’s LTR 1220 telecrawler.

Tatuapé has so far used the 220t crane, which was delivered in mid-2014 and has a 60m telescopic boom, on a range of projects, including football stadiums, factories, ports and railway tracks.

São Paulo-based Tatuapé already operated a 100t Liebherr LTR 1100 telecrawler since 2009, and also has four Liebherr LTM 1220-5.2 telescopic mobile cranes.

Denys Garzon, director of the company, said: "We have managed to gain a good deal of experience with this crane concept using the LTR 1100. We know how versatile telescopic crawler cranes are. What is more, the costs on the site are relatively low since they can be driven when fully equipped.

"Why should we not invest in a crane of the same class with even greater versatility?"
