German construction company Max Bögl has purchased a 1,200t Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 telescopic mobile crane, to assist with wind turbine erection projects.

The crane, which represents the sixth Liebherr mobile crane the company has acquired in 2014 and the third LTM 11200-9.1 in its fleet, has a 100m telescopic boom and was manufactured at Liebherr's Ehingen facility.

With lattice extensions and a luffing jib, the crane can reach hoisting heights of up to 188m. Peter Guttenberger, director of transport and machines at Max Bögl, said: "We particularly use our LTM 11200-9.1 in the wind power industry. They are perfect for erecting hybrid towers."

Max Bögl invested in four other Liebherr cranes in 2014 -- two LTF 1045-3.1 telescopic truck-mounted cranes, and an LTR 1100 and LTR 1220 telecrawler -- and has ordered two further LTR 1100 cranes for delivery in the first half of 2015.

Max Bögl used its LTM 11200-9.1 to hoist a 63-tonne adapter, used to connect the concrete and steel sections of a tower.
