Mexico's Corporation Integral de Comercio Exterior, SA de CV (Grupo CICE) has ordered a Generation 5 G HMK 6407 mobile harbour crane from Germany’s Gottwald for its operations at the Port of Veracruz.

The crane, a variant on Gottwald’s Model 6 crane, has a maximum lifting capacity of 100t and a maximum radius of 51m, which Gottwald said makes it suited to handling post-Panamax vessels.

It will be shipped from Gottwald’s factory in Düsseldorf to the Port of Veracruz at the end of July, and will enter service in September.

It is the latest crane to be ordered by Grupo CICE from Gottwald since 2001. Previous models include a Generation 5 G HMK 7608, and two HMK 280 E models.

“The Model 6 crane, the second Generation 5 crane we have bought, modernises our existing fleet and prepares us ideally for the anticipated handling jobs alongside post-Panamax vessels,” said Leoncio Perez Lopez, director of Grupo CICE.
