GGR Group supplied two UNIC spider cranes and glass vacuum lifting equipment to assist glazing at the new Manchester Cancer Research Centre in the UK.

A URW095 and URW295 spider crane were used to glaze the £28.5m building, being built to pioneer new treatments for cancer patients as part of The University of Manchester's Cancer Research facilities. The project is being funded by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and the university's More Tomorrows Campaign.

The URW095, with a capacity of just under 1t, worked with a GL-UMC600 glass manipulating robotic head, tackling glazing on the sloping facades of the building which involved lifting 500kg panes of glass at a 15º angle.

The UNIC URW295 operated with the DSZ2 Slimline vacuum lifter for handling large glass units.
