Alimak has launched the new LSH construction hoist, designed for use inside lift shafts during building construction.

The company stated that adding an extra hoist inside a building’s lift shaft is an efficient vertical access solution, ideal for transporting workers and materials when outside space is restricted or when additional capacity is required. It has an internal size of 1.8 x 1.5m x 2.8m high with a load capacity of 2,000kg.

The new construction hoist can be installed inside the shaft using a tower crane in half the time of a traction jump-lift. The Alimak LSH can serve the top level of the construction site as it uses rack and pinion technology, negating the need for a machine room or heavy steel beams for fixing suspension wires at the top of a site.

Before being dismantled, the construction hoist can also be used for the installation of elevator guide rails inside the shaft. If the shaft is still open at the top the Alimak LSH can then be dismantled by tower crane, but the bolted design of the hoist allows for easy dismantling and removal when if shaft is already closed.

“With safety rails and fall protection on the roof of the Alimak LSH and without the need of a counterweight, the construction hoist provides for increased safety and straightforward installation, jumping and dismantling,” said Alimak.

The Alimak LSH is equipped with a large-display control panel, with 7in touchscreen protective glass and IP54 ingress protection to deliver real-time hoist status information.
