ALE has transported a petrochemical module weighing almost 1,300t, using 60 axle lines of SPMT from Scheuerle.

The 1,293t living quarters module is part of the Malikai oilfield, being operated by Shell off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia in 565m-deep water.

The module, 42m long and with a transportation width of 30m, was manufactured at the Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) construction yard around 2km from the harbour.

After the route was chosen -- including six 90ยบ turns and several bridges - the module was jacked up and 60 axle lines of SPMT were positioned underneath, with four girders used to spread the load.

Upon arrival the module was lifted and installed on top of the final platform rig, using two 1,600t crawler cranes.

Mobile home: ALE moved a living quarters module in Malaysia, for integration into an offshore oilfield.
