Sarens UK has moved the dates for its two-day charity golf event and open day, originally scheduled for 3rd May, to 12th July to include a programme of public workshops.

Day two of the event, originally comprising of a tour and equipment demonstrations, will offer attendees from local students to client firms the chance to develop a better working knowledge of how Sarens UK performs its work.

Although Sarens UK already has a training programme in place for engineering graduates, the firm is keen to open its doors to students at all levels of education and demonstrate the realities of a career in the lifting industry.

Sarens UK general manager, Jon Daily, says that the company is keen to encourage stronger relationships with the local community and clients while simultaneously raising as much money for charity as possible.

He said: “We’re going to be doing a series of workshops throughout the day and then some demonstrations as well to show what is involved in when you’re designing work for different technologies like jacking and skidding. We will go through the concepts and principles behind it and then we go out and do a demonstration in the yard, just to increase clients and other people’s knowledge of how it works.

“It’s serving two purposes. One, it’s a chance to open the doors to friends and family. The other one is local colleges, to bring some of their kids in and so they know if they go into this kind of industry you can do this type of work and what kind of career they can have.

The programme of events for the first day remains unaltered, consisting of Sarens UK’s first annual charity golf tournament and a charity race night that will feature a three-course presentation meal and entertainment.

Tickets for the charity raffle, which will give winners the chance to choose the names of four Sarens cranes, are now available at £1 each.
