Engineering company Eurosond used a Sennebogen 690 HD with diaphragm wall grab to install a flood control system on the river Danube in Germany.

The project is taking place in Straubing as part of a €5.4bn flood control investment programme from the national government in Lower Bavaria, with Eurosond upgrading the dikes on the river banks with an inner seal.

Each inner seal consists of a diaphragm wall, between 8-16m deep, in the centre of the dike to ensure stability and provide sealing.

For the project, Sennebogen delivered a 690 HD duty cycle crawler crane, through sales and service partner IBS. The crane was equipped with a 16.5t Stein diaphragm wall grab.

Operator Jens Kothe said: "The Sennebogen 690 HD is particularly well-suited for demanding use with the diaphragm wall grab. The compact design, combined with powerful winches and high stability, makes the machine indispensible to us for dike rehabilitation."

Taking precautions: a Sennebogen crane was used to install flood control measures in Straubing, Germany.
