North Africa Stokvis, a Moroccan technical equipment importer, has been chosen as the Moroccan distributor for French hire firm Loxam to distribute from Loxam's new location in Bouskoura.

Stokvis imports, rents and distributes construction, mining and agricultural machinery. It also deals in materials handling, refrigeration and cooling equipment.

A subsidiary of RS & Stokvis Zonen NV of Rotterdam, the firm established a presence in Morocco in the 1950s.

It is now regional distributor for Locatelli cranes and Merlo telehandlers. It also distributes agricultural equipment for companies such as Claas and Same Deutz Fahr.

The opening of Loxam's first African location comes after last month's announcement that it will be opening new offices in the region of Champagne au Mont d'Or.

Patrick Rizzo, Loxam's director of marketing, said that the new location will look to sign long term rental contracts with French contractors and other international companies working in Morocco.

Loxam's expansion in Morocco is part of a strategic move to establish an African presence: "Through partnership with local company Stokvis, Loxam will supply companies with its seasoned know-how in a country which offers significant growth prospects."
