Dorman Long’s MYQ5000 jacking tower system has been successfully tested in China, by owner China Petroleum First Construction Company.

The system is designed for erecting petrochemical vessels and was tested to 6,250t in Luoyang, China. This represented an overload of 125% on the system, which has capacity of 5,000t on vessels up to 160m high.

Said by Dorman Long to be the highest-capacity twin tower lifting system in the world, it also incorporates four 1,394t-capacity strand jacks.

The system is able to self-erect and self-dismantle, and can also move along a ground-level track with the load suspended. The load can also be moved sideways or rotated after lifting.

The MYQ5000 was built primarily for projects in China, where petrochemical vessels are set to rise above 4,000t in the near future, says Dorman Long -- although the system is available for work in other regions.

The MYQ5000 jacking tower successfully system lifted 6,250t, a 125% overload on its capacity.
