Tadano has sold its 1,000th GR-1000XL/800EX rough terrain crane, and marked the event with a shipping ceremony.

The model has been produced by the Japanese company for overseas markets since it was introduced in 2011. It has been used particularly in the energy sector, mainly in North America, the Middle East and Russia, and in mining projects in South America, Australia and South Africa.

At the shipping ceremony, chief executive Koichi Tadano said of the crane's introduction in 2011: "The Great East Japan Earthquake cut off Tadano's supply chain, which caused a one-time shut down of our assembly line at Shido Plant. However, our customers relying on us from far away overseas and waiting long periods of time for the delivery of our products, as well as our employees who used all of their effort to reply to the demands of those customers, have both overcome that crisis to arrive at this day of commemoration."

The 1,000th GR-1000XL/800EX will be shipped to Tadano America Corporation in Houston, Texas, and began its journey with a ribbon-cutting ceremony preformed by the company officers of Tadano, and staff from the Research and Development Division and Production Division directly in charge of the model.

Grand departure: the 1,000th GR-1000XL/800EX rough terrain from Tadano to be shipped overseas was given a ceremonial send-off.
