Tadano has reported a decrease in sales revenue from both its mobile crane and truck loader crane divisions in the first three quarters of its fiscal year, from April 1 to December 31 2020.

Mobile crane sales revenue stood at ¥77.9bn, down 17.7% year-on-year. The majority of the revenue was generated outside Japan (69%), where sales decreased by 16.5% year-on-year to ¥53.7bn. In Japan the fall was even greater (20.2%), with a revenue of ¥24.2bn reported.

Sales of truck loader cranes amounted to ¥14.1bn, down 14.9% from the same period in the previous year.

As a group, Tadano’s net sales revenue shrunk by 11% to ¥132.5. There was a double-digit decrease recorded in all the world regions, apart from Europe where the company witnessed a 30.7% increase, which the manufacturer attributed to the consolidation of Demag business.

Over the same period, its gross profit dropped by ¥11.3bn to ¥26.7bn. The Group recorded a third quarter operating loss (¥1.8bn) for the first time in ten years (since the third quarter of FY2010).
