Texan hire firm TNT Crane and Rigging has bought the crane business of Turner Bros, adding 60 cranes to TNT’s now over 230-strong crane fleet.

As a result of the latest expansion, which adds the entire Turner bros crane portfolio to TNT's existing fleet, TNT says that both its customers and employees will benefit from greater resources and better coverage of the Gulf region.

Continuing a string of expansions that has seen the company's footprint grow to 11 locations across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, the deal has added three TNT locations in Abilene, Beaumont, and Longview.

Along with Turner employees from the crane business, the former executive vice president of Turner Bros, David Cowley will join TNT as executive vice president and a member of the executive management team.

Commenting on the deal, Cowley said: "All Turner employees are excited about this transaction. This will expand the geographic footprint for TNT. With the combined equipment, we can service our vast range of customers over a broader area.

“This transaction is a benefit for all markets with the combination of knowledge from safety, to skilled workers, to management. We appreciate the welcome of the Turner employees to the TNT family."

Turner Bros will retain its Houston and Corpus Christi branches along with its trucking and pipe service operations as a separate business.

TNT president and CEO Michael Appling Jr. said: "The acquisition of Turner shows our commitment to be a leader in the industry. It places TNT in a stronger and more competitive position. We will enjoy both industry and geographic diversity through our three new branches in Beaumont, Longview and Abilene.

“Turner is a leader in the attractive wind maintenance and services business. We welcome the Turner employees to the TNT family and we look forward to working with them as we continue to grow our company."
