Four XCMG truck cranes are being used for the reconstruction of the Brazilian scientific research station Comandante Ferraz in Antarctica, which burnt down in 2012.

According to Xinhuanet, in 2015 China Electronics Import & Export Corp. (CEIEC) defeated other international bidders and won the contract for rebuilding the Ferraz Station, which was originally built in 1984.

Prefabricated container function modules are used for the construction of the exterior of the station, while insulation boards are used for the interior. All modules are transported to the Antarctica and assembled.

XCMG QY30K5-I and QY25K5-I truck cranes are being used to unload the containers from the ships as well as lift the modules during the construction process.
