Manitex signs agreements to double international business

12 November 2009

Manitex has agreed two distribution agreements with Darwish Bin Ahmed and Sons (DBA) to introduce its crane products into the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which it said will allow it to double its international business in 2010/11.

DBA will distribute Manitex’s crane products in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Al Ainand, and in Saudi Arabia. United Motors and Heavy Equipment, a part of the DBA Group, will distribute crane products throughout Dubai and the northern emirates. Manitex added both companies are authorised sellers of MAN trucks, which will be exclusively used with its cranes.

Manitex and DBA have already worked together during 2009 to introduce five crane platforms into the region, with the formal agreement set to see all of Manitex’s product lines made available in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in 2010.

Scott Rolston, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Manitex, said: "Our international market expansion efforts have been successful, as we have thus far in 2009 realised a 100% increase in the business we do outside of North America compared to all of last year.

“We have received significant original stocking orders with this new customer. And with this new agreement, we believe that there is opportunity for us to double that percentage again in 2010/2011.”
