Dreggen to launch sub-sea AHC crane

07 August 2009

Norwegian crane manufacturer Dreggen has teamed up with Bosch Rexroth to launch its first sub-sea active heave compensated (AHC) crane.

Dreggen said the DKF1250 cranes will be able to lift 100t at depths up to 3,000m. It is based on its established knuckleboom crane design but will be equipped with Bosch Rexroth’s secondary controlled winch drives. This drive manages and compensates the primary load and additional wave motions and oscillations.

Dreggen, part of the Bergen Group, said the cranes can also be equipped with a manual overload protection system, automatic overload protection system and passive heave compensation, as well as the AHC.
