Crane rental company Grúas Alhambra has expanded its fleet with new Grove GMK5120L all-terrain cranes, formally receiving the units during the SMOPYC 2026 exhibition in Zaragoza, Spain.

The company plans to deploy the 120t capacity cranes in construction applications, with a focus on projects where operational flexibility, dependability, and user-friendly controls are required.

The acquisition continues the partnership between Grúas Alhambra, based in Granada, and the Grove brand, which began in 2018. Previous Grove deliveries to the company have included GMK5250L and GMK6400 models.

Grúas Alhambra uses its all-terrain Grove cranes across a variety of projects, including maintenance work on wind turbines.

According to the company, these tasks demand significant lift capacity, extended reach, and consistent performance.

Grúas Alhambra has implemented a training scheme tailored to the capabilities of its new GMK5120L cranes, provided by Manitowoc, the manufacturer of the Grove brand. This training aims to help operators maximise the cranes’ features and efficiency.

Additionally, the new cranes make use of Grove CONNECT, a telematics platform that offers remote diagnostics and condition monitoring.

The Grove GMK5120L model offers owners multiple counterweight configurations and adaptable axle-load management, allowing swift changes between operational modes with minimal set-up time.

This feature is intended to optimise the cranes’ availability for use and reduce delays caused by reconfiguration.

Grúas Alhambra CEO Abraham Molina said: “Grove has again proved to be the right choice for our company. Our company is committed to investing in modern equipment, service quality, digital tools, and operator expertise — all of which are crucial in today’s demanding lifting market.

“We appreciate the excellent factory finish of the Grove cranes, in quality and overall performance. Just as important is Grove’s improved aftersales service which played a key role in our decision to add these units to our fleet.”

Grúas Alhambra employs over 80 personnel and operates from its headquarters in Granada, with further locations in Málaga and Jaén.
