Manitowoc Crane Care has improved the availability of its EnCORE crane repair and remanufacturing service by adding current Manitowoc distributor Shawmut Equipment of New England, South Dakota, to its EnCORE Partners programme.

After investing in training and certification to ensure its staff’s technical expertise is in line with the manufacturer’s standards, Shawmut Equipment has become the seventh EnCORE Partner in the North America.

Manitowoc Crane Care’s EnCORE programme provides remanufacturing services for Manitowoc cranes which the firm claims can extend the working life of the crane while only costing 50% of the replacement price.

Existing EnCORE Partners include Aspen Equipment, Cowin, H&E Equipment Services, Hoffman Equipment, Ring Power Crane and Walter Payton Power Equipment.

Shawmut Equipment president Dave O’Connell commented: “We are pleased to be named Manitowoc Crane Care’s latest EnCORE Partner. This allows us to establish deeper relationships with our customers and help them get even more value and repair options for their Manitowoc cranes.”

As with several firms in the EnCORE Partners programme, Shawmut Equipment was already an established Manitowoc crane dealer, and built on their existing product knowledge and relationship with Manitowoc to align their technical capabilities.

Manitowoc’s director of the Crane Care EnCORE programme, Gilberto Ferreira, said: “Our programme will provide customers a cost-effective fleet management solution. Remanufacturing significantly extends the life of the crane and, because it is done in close collaboration with Manitowoc, customers are assured of the quality and reliability of the repairs.

“In fact, Manitowoc fully certifies the load charts of the remanufactured crane after completion.”

Manitowoc provides partner organizations with commercial, financial and technical support, requiring each firm to have a structural engineer on hand to foster easy collaboration.

To enable them to carry out any aspect of the repair or remanufacturing process, firms must also ensure the proper training and certification is undertaken welders working on Manitowoc cranes.

Manitowoc is keen to continue expansion of the programme to provide greater accessibility for customers across the Americas region.

Gilberto added: “This not only saves the customer money, but it also extends the life of a crane that would otherwise be sold for scrap value.”
