There’s something special about big shows. It’s that magic combination of: spectacular new machinery; colleagues from around the world together on one place; new product launches; press conferences; deals being made; official equipment handover ceremonies; and, let’s not forget, the after-show parties where deals are celebrated and friendships forged whilst letting off some steam!

According to ConExpo’s organisers the 2023 show is set to be the largest in its history. In addition to the 1,800 exhibitors, there will be education sessions and trainee operator exams taking place. Florida, USA-based job planning and management software company A1A Software will release a variety of stand-alone lift planning tools in its A1A Product Suite and introduce a new version of its iCraneTrax business management tool.

The lift planning and asset management tools are designed to help people with different roles in the crane supplier’s organisation to be functional at various levels with as little or as much complexity as the role requires.

3D Lift Plan is the foundation of the company’s new lift planning A1A Product Suite. The software is well-known for creating bids, critical lifts, rigging documentation, and lift simulations; it is made even more powerful, says A1A, with the addition of stand-alone tools that can be used by themselves or in combination with 3D Lift Plan.All information from A1A Product Suite apps create digital records that can be imported into the full version of 3D Lift Plan.

The A1A Product Suite will include the following apps: SketchPad; Rigging Designer; Jobsite Designer; Crane Search; Load Chart Viewer; Crane Loads Calculator; and Mat Calculator.

In addition, the newest version of iCraneTrax features improved admin interfaces, greater drag and drop functionality, and better integration with accounting programs, says A1A.

Designed for owners of heavy equipment fleets in mind, with it crane rental companies can manage customer relationships, create sales forecasting, stay on top of dispatch, fleet allocation, and maintenance, and produce job reports.

ACADEMY TRAINING CENTER

French anti-collision and zone protection specialist AMCS Technologies will present its range of safety devices dedicated for tower cranes and other lifting machinery and mobiles cranes.

The company says it has become a reference in the industry, taking into account the particular characteristics of each brand and type of crane its systems are being used on and can adapt to suit the specific configurations of any site. AMCS Technologies has a network of customers and dealers worldwide and says its anticollision systems have been proven at thousands of important jobsites around the world.

Recently, its DCS 61-S systems has reached Australia with Liebherr Australia Pty.

AMCS Technologies’ solutions are currently being used in West End Brisbane, where two cranes are working in a close area.

Two Hutchies Allere cranes, a Liebherr 190HC-L and a 280HC-L, are building two residential towers that are about 22 storeys each.

Two other cranes, a 280 HC-L and a 542HC-L, are building the Logan Hospital upgrade, which is a major infrastructure job, located in Meadowbrook Logan. Logan Hospital’s expansion includes 206 additional beds and treatment spaces, four new levels on an existing hospital building, as well as an upgraded and expanded maternity service. This will significantly increase the size of the hospital to meet the needs of one of the fastest growing regions. This is the first time AMCS Technologies’ DCS 61-S units have been installed in Australia.

Construction planning specialist Ameco acquired F&M Mafco, an international supplier of tools and equipment rental, sales and service programmes, in 2022.

The acquisition, Ameco says, has expanded its site services capabilities for construction projects or operating facilities across North America.

JASO TOWER CRANES

Spanish top slewing and luffing tower crane manufacturer Jaso will be happy to discuss its recently launched J390 – a low top crane with a maximum load of 24 tonnes and a tip load of 3.8 tonnes, or its new J235.12 – a flat top crane with a maximum load of 12 tonnes and a tip load of 2.6 tonnes. It also has launched the JL25 hoist equipped with Jaso’s rack-and-pinion system.

Alternatively, the company will be happy to explain how it has worked with Australian company Titan Cranes to develop the Lift Shaft system – a three-beam climbing system designed to facilitate the construction of ever taller skyscrapers in cities with limited usable space.

JMG says its pick and carry cranes allow both lifting and moving the load. They are 100% battery-operated and can work up to eight hours non-stop.

They provide an alternative to forklifts and can also replace cranes or carry deck cranes with their compact size, precise manoeuvring and fast setup time, the company claims.

KOBELCO CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY USA

Kobelco USA will be showcasing three new crawler cranes: the CK 1600G-3; the CK 2000G-3; and the CK 2750G-3. They all have a new Isuzu engine system to meet EPA 2021 Engine Certification requirements.

The range-topper, the CK1600G-3, has an Isuzu Model 6UZ1 engine – a sixcylinder, turbocharged, Tier 4 final engine that makes 362hp. It can lift 160 tons at a radius of 15ft and has a maximum boom length of 250ft. This can be extended with a fixed jib. A luffing jib is also available. All boom and jib components are interchangeable with the previous model.

The new versions also have an operator cabin that incorporates Bluetooth and is USB ports. They look good, too, with a new paint job!

Leavitt Cranes is the master North American distributor for Butti Crane attachments. This will be the company’s 3rd ConExpo displaying Butti Crane attachments and, at the show, it will be offering special pricing on its attachments.

LIEBHERR

(Components: S80821) Manufacturer Liebherr is showcasing over 30 exhibits from seven product segments. New in its crawler crane offering is the LR 1400 SX. For the show the crane will be fitted with a 134,514 ft (41 m) main boom and a 144,357 ft (44 m) luffing jib. It has a transport weight of 50,706 USt (46 t) and Liebherr describes it as a very versatile machine.

On the mobile crane side Liebherr will show the LTM 1100-5.3. It has a 203 ft (62 m) telescopic boom and carries up to 37,250 lbs (16.9 t) of ballast with a 26,450 lbs (12 t) axle load on public roads.

Also on display will be the two-axle LRT 1130-2.1 rough terrain which Liebherr says is adapted to the needs of the US-market. The LRT 1130- 2.1 has a maximum lifting capacity of 140 USt (130 t).

For the first time at a trade show in North America Liebherr’s tower crane division will present the 470 EC-B, its largest flat-top crane in steel rope design.

From Liebherr’s fasterecting K crane series it is showcasing its 125 K. It has a radius of 180 ft (55 m) and a hook height of up to approx. 217 ft (66 m).

Liebherr Tower Cranes is also presenting its new digital service portfolio for the first time in North America.

The 300|AT is a fiveaxle crane built with transportability in mind meeting all North American transportation requirements. Its single engine platform is HVO fuel ready and EPA On-Highway and CARB On-Road compliant.

The 300|AT has a seven section 46 - 238 ft. (13 – 72.5 m) pin and latch greaseless formed boom, plus optional fly or lattice extensions

Maximum attachments achieve a tip height of 369 ft. (112 m), while a modular counterweight configuration is designed to add to the 300|AT’s versatility.

It is powered by a 554 hp (407 kW) Cummins X15 diesel engine with ZF Traxon automated manual transmission. The transmission features improved shifting performance and offers integrated braking with paddle shift controls. The 300|AT also has a new power transmission system for powering upper hydraulic functions. This uses a 24 volt electrical system with an CANBUS communications.

The 300|AT is equipped with same purpose-built twoperson carrier cab seen in the 175|AT. It includes amenities such as automatic climate control, Bluetooth radio, cell phone charging, LED lighting. and an air-ride seat with lumbar support.

The control system is Link- Belt’s Pulse 2.0 with a teninch (25.4 cm) touch display.

The crane also has Link- Belt's V-CALC variable outrigger which allows for setup in tight jobsites where outriggers require being unevenly extended.

Link-Belt will also be promoting its 218|V lattice boom crawler crane that succeeds the 218 HSL. It has a Cummins QSB6.7 Stage V engine and repositioned counterweights, amongst other developments.

Tadano’s GTC-2000 will be making its American trade show debut. With a lifting capacity of 172 tons and a 196.9-foot main boom, this telescopic boom crawler crane closes the gap between the 150-200 ton capacity classes.

Additionally, Tadano’s GTC- 1300 telescopic boom crawler crane will be displayed with a couple of new features: a third winch and power pack.
