Surespan Wind Energy Services has become the first firm in Canada to purchase a Liebherr LG 1750 all terrain lattice boom truck crane. The firm plans to use the crane for turbine erection work in North America.

The crane was put to work in Southern Ontario at the South Kent Wind farm, a joint venture of Pattern Energy and Samsung. Surespan is providing erection services to RES Canada including the turbine erection and mechanical completion of 124 Siemens 2.3MW turbines.

The LG 1750 is a lattice boom truck crane. Liebherr describes the machine as offering the flexibility of a 750t crawler crane with the mobility of a truck crane. The basic unit can be driven on regular roads within a 3m width. For wind power applications the LG 1750 offers a range of special boom configurations.
