Goodyear targets mobile cranes - but only in the USA

Goodyear has launched a mobile crane tyre for the US market, but has not yet made it available in other countries.

The MC-1A has been developed specifically for high-speed mobile crane applications of up to 44mph (70km/h). The computer generated design provides optimised treadwear and minimises noise and vibration, according to the company.

Goodyear claims that the solid shoulder ribs of the tyre enhance response and steering control, while the radial construction is designed for greater fuel economy, improved stability for pick and carry applications, and improved treadwear. At 5mph and 140psi (9.5 bar), rated load is 23,400 lbs (10.6t). Availability elsewhere in the world remains undecided.
