A Liebherr LTR 1060 telecrawler has been used by Swiss contractor Clausen at an altitude of 2,900m to assist construction of a mountain station for the new Hirli chairlift in the Alps.

The 60t crane was first moved to Stafelalp at an altitude of 1,900m on a low loader, before being driven the remaining 8km to the chairlift station site at Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn mountain. For 2km of this journey, the LTR 1060 navigated a gradient of 45 degrees.

At the job site, the crane first installed the steel structure for the new station, and then positioned the station's 16t drive engine.

No small Matterhorn: Clausen used its Liebherr LTR 1060 to climb the Alps to work on a mountainside job site.
