UK rental company Crane Services takes delivery of a 500t-rated Liebherr LTM 1500 in March, swelling the country’s population of telescopic mobile cranes of that class or larger to 13 machines.

With about six lattice boom truck cranes also available for hire in the UK, West Yorkshire-based Crane Services is committing itself to what is clearly a buyer’s market.

“The LTM 1500 takes Crane Services into a new dimension, moving us into a heavy lift capability where we are confident of becoming a serious and very cost-effective heavyweight contender on a nationwide basis,” said managing director David Slack.

Crane Services has chosen the full-spec option, with both 84m and 50m main boom options, 63m fixed fly and 91m luffing lattice fly jib.

The company has also expanded its fleet lower down the range, having taken delivery of a 90t LTM 1090/2, a 50t LTM 1050/1 and a 30t LTM 1030/2.

Other 500t-plus telescopics in the UK are: three more LTM 1500s, five LTM 1800s, two Demag AC 1600s and two AC 650s. Additionally, Sarens Sparrow, Baldwins and Taylor Crane all have heavy lifting lattice boom trucks.
