The Committee of European Construction Equipment (CECE) and the European Agricultural Machinery Association (CEMA) have presented to the European Union a manifesto of five priority actions for “successful digital transformations” of the construction and agricultural machinery industries.

The actions, presented at the associations' joint political summit held in Brussels, include devising smart regulation for smart machine technology; creating a true and reliable 'Digital Single Market'; using relevant EU tools and programmes to incentivise digital technology investment in agriculture and construction; improving broadband infrastructure in rural and urban Europe for rapidly-growing data flows; and supporting and encouraging the development of digital skills.

At the summit, a group of young engineers also showcased a range of innovative industry projects, to illustrate the future of the sectors.
