Given the task of relocating a 230t hydraulic face shovel, Mannesmann Dematic’s Excavator Division hired two Demag AC 395s from Crane Services to carry out a dual lift.

The Demag H 185S hydraulic face shovel, belonging to Miller Mining in the UK, was dismantled in Staffordshire, transported to Scotland and reassembled in just 10 days.

With each crane operating at an 8m radius, the 60t-plus superstructure was lifted from the car body and crawler side frames. The cranes were configured with 22m of main boom and each carried 20t of counterweight.

The Demag AC 395, with an SWL of over 43t, has a 60m main boom and a 17m extension carried on board, giving a tip height of more than 80m.
