ALE completes roof lift of World Cup Stadium
10 August 2017 by Sotiris KanarisALE has lifted and installed 1,300 roof sections of a 2018 FIFA World Cup stadium in Russia.
Each section of the Mordovia Arena stadium, located in the city of Saransk, had different dimensions and weighed 80t each.
ALE used its 750t capacity crawler crane with a 45m luffing jib in the largest configuration possible to lift and install the roof sections.
As there was limited space inside the stadium, with just enough space to pass through the gates, ALE stretched the main boom to 118m. It took nine months to lift and install the roof sections.
