Heavy lifting specialist ALE is almost half-way through a project moving more than 250 bridge girders for Vietnam’s first monorail system.

The project involves the transportation of 254 girders, each weighing 230t and 32m long -- and said to be the longest and heaviest bridge girders ever moved in the country.

Taking place in the Hanoi region, ALE is moving the girders 13km from the casting yard at Duong Noi to the erection area of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong line.

Transportation began in March 2014, and ALE has now moved more than 40% of the girders, using 17 axle lines of conventional trailers, two prime movers and two bolsters with 200t capacity for each girder.

The monorail project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

ALE is moving 230t bridge girders as part of the state monorail project in Vietnam.
