Cometto MSPE self-propelled vehicles were used to relocate a Liebherr LR 11000 crawler crane belonging to Wiesbauer within the Rugendorf wind farm in Upper Franconia, Germany.

The wind farm currently houses four of the latest generation wind turbines and the LR11000 crawler crane was disassembled following the erection of one wind turbine and reassembled at the next location. German crane company Wiesbauer used its Cometto MSPE self-propelled vehicles with 14-axle combination to transport the 42m long derrick mast weighing 60t.

The company stated that this was the faster solution for the relocation of the crane compared to other transport options. "The time saving that we achieved was the reason we chose this means of transport," said company director Jochen Wiesbauer. "The Cometto vehicles impress with their flexibility and manoeuvrability."

Wiesbauer has a total of 20 Cometto MSPE axle lines within its fleet, with an axle load of 48t and two power pack units with an output of 202kW.
