Kobelco Cranes North America will merge with Kobelco Construction Machinery on 1 January 2017.

The resulting entity will be under the name of Kobelco Construction Machinery USA, which is headquartered in Katy, Texas.

The new entity will be led by president and CEO Naoto Suzuki who will have three independent divisions—excavator, crane, plant—reporting directly to him. The crane division itself will be led by vice president Jack Fendrick.

Kobelco Cranes North America will not physically move from Houston to Katy until the second quarter of 2017.

The news came eight months after Kobe Steel, Kobelco’s parent company, merged its global excavator business with its global crane business. The resulting organisation Kobelco Construction Machinery represents a $3bn per year company.
