Liebherr has supplied four HC-L tower cranes to the Kingdom Tower project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Three Liebherr 280 HC-L luffing jib cranes and one 357 HC-L crane are assisting construction of the tower, which when completed will be the first building more than 1,000m high.

The cranes are using jib lengths of 40-45m, with lifting capacities of 11-12t at a radius of 35m, and are part of a team of six tower cranes working on the project.

The three 280 HC-L cranes, which are working on building the side wings of the tower, have been anchored on the outside of the building and have hook heights of around 400m.

The 357 HC-L crane will then place the top on the tower at a height of around 1,000m, after climbing to the height inside the central building.

Moving upwards in several climbing stages, the cranes will be positioned on either the sky terrace of the building or on cantilever platforms mounted on the outside of the building. The cranes will also erect and dismantle each other.

Liebherr cranes are working on what will be the world’s tallest building, the Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia
