A manoeuvrable alternative to extendable vehicles for transporting wind turbine blades launched by Faymonville.

Specialist trailer manufacturer Faymonville has launched a system designed to make the transport of long wind turbine rotor blades, particularly with lengths between 80 to 120 metres, easier than ever before.

According to Faymonville its self-steering trailer, which it is calling a turbine blade adapter, is more manoeuvrable compared to extendable vehicles. It also claims that its lifting capacity of 30 tonnes is the highest on the market, helping futureproof the system as blades get bigger and heavier.

Depending on the configuration, a stroke of up to 1,700 mm is possible for tackling obstacles during transport and it has a universal interface design so that it fits transport cradles from all blade manufacturers.

The blade transport system is coupled to the tractor using just four pins for speed and ease of use and is available for Faymonville’s FlexMax, ModulMax and CombiMax trailer lines.
