Tower crane manufacturer Wolffkran Schweiz AG (Wolffkran) has held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its new headquarters.

The 18,000sqm property in Elsau, Switzerland, is due to be completed in May 2021 and will include an office and workshop building and an outdoor storage facility.

The planning for the new location has been ongoing since November 2019. The construction includes an approximately 1,500sqm building, with one underground and two above ground floors that will accommodate offices and a workshop for maintaining the fleet of rental cranes, as well as the entire infrastructure of the outdoor yard and storage area.

The new building will have a modern steel structure facing the street and green spaces are integrated in the outdoor storage area.

Wolffkran Schweiz AG has been based in Da¨llikon in the Swiss canton of Zurich for 19 years, but decided to relocate its headquarters 40km further east to Elsau, not far from Winterthur. The decision to relocate was taken due to the expiring lease of the premises in Da¨llikon.

Rolf Mathys, MD of Wolffkran, Jasper Schiefer, a member of the Wolffkran owning family, and Ju¨rg Frutiger, president of the municipality of Elsau, participated in the groundbreaking festivities. Further attendees included representatives from the construction companies Stutz AG and Marti AG as well as architects from MGH, which will be carrying out and managing the construction work.

“We look forward to a new state-of-the-art headquarters from which we will be able to offer our customers in the German-speaking part of Switzerland the best possible crane maintenance and planning services,” said Mathys. “The new outdoor yard allows for more efficient storage solutions providing even more comfort and planning security for our customers and their construction projects.”
