Sarens lifts and moves heavy powerplant components

Sarens coducts heavy lift and transport work for the Uzbekistan Natural Gas Conversion Power Plant Project using its Demag crawler and Kamag SPMTs.

The Uzbekistan Natural Gas Conversion Power Plant Project commissioned heavy lift and transport specialist Sarens to offload and transport 21 heavy and Out Of Gauge (OOG) components from KCOI port, Kazakhstan, to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The heaviest items were four Once Through Heat Recovery Steam Generators (OTSGs) measuring around 15 metres square and weighing 185.5 tonnes each.

The items were lifted off a vessel at the port using Sarens’ 650 tonne capacity Demag CC4000 latice boom crawler crane. It placed the items onto Sarens’ Kamag K25 trailers which were moved by MAN trucks.

Challenges during transport included difficult terrain, sharp turns, bridges, descents and ascents on the roads, and local transport regulations and the job took ten days. Watch the video at:
